Default vcr recording issue

hi, i have a magnovox vcr/dvd combo model: MSD805 and i'm having
trouble when i try to record from this vcr. i normally use this vcr
to
record shows and it used to work fine until the other day when i
taped a
show and then i played it back the image was distorted and jumpy and
the audio sounded like if someone was fast-forwarding through the
audio, you
can't understand any of the audio. i used a special tape to clean
the
video heads and it didn't make a difference i also tried a brand new
tape
and i got the same results. the only thing is that i can still
watch
movies with the vcr i just can't watch what i record. do you have
any
suggestions?

sounds like the pinch roller isn't engaging ,if the tape is moving at
high speed in play.there may be something blocking the path. you'll
have to open it up in a dimly lit room and observe what happens when
play is pressed.
