Thumbs down Simple DYI on single pole switches

I have a dual switch box with two single pole switches controlling two separate lights in two different areas of the room. How do I get the black/hot and white/common supply from the single source to the two switches? (e.g. cut two short black and two short white and wirenut them to the respective supply wires to create separate leads to the two switches or provided "jumper" wires between the two switches)

Thanks
Jim T.
