I have this Sony KV35V35 come to me with the power supply in bad shape,
both of the 4834 transistors a condenser 2 resistors and the fuse resistor
were gone and the HOTransistor.I replaced everything and tried the set, on
variable transformer at 80 volts and everything went again. I ordered a
power supply from PTS, replaced the HOTransistor, and tried it again on 80
volts, It came on and ran for about 15 minutes, and everything went again.
any advice on this or should I trash the set? It is 10 years
old.
Thanks for any help I can
get.
Vince

Did you solder the pins on the horizontal drive transformer? You must check
all of the connections to the HOT base because poor connections there will
blow it every time. Unfortunately, the power supply has no current limiting
so the chopper transistors go as well. This is a well known failure mode in
these sets.

No reason to trash it if the CRT is still strong. This is a very routine
repair for someone with experience with these sets. You do need to be aware
of the various pitfalls of these repairs, however. There are quite a few.
Start by listing exactly what parts were bad, what you replaced them with
and where you got the parts, and maybe we can help if you provide some
specific information.
