Default HP psc 750 usb port blown

Computer is not recognising the machine but copy and such works fine, we did
had a lightning strike
that blew the computer's mainboard but no other components were damaged then
the modem.
Funny thing, machine was unplugged, so was the telephone cable and i moved
them away from the machine, suprisingly the machine still got hit.
So any suggestions on repairing the usb port, could this be a smd fuse?

if the printer is like my hp officejet then it will have a parrallel port
connection as well -- get a parallel printer cable and use that instead
