Default Zenith TV model H32G48S displays "disconnect AV jacks" message.

After the customer connected a DVD player to the front panel jacks this
set displays a message on the screen to "disconnect AV jacks" .It will
not get to a menu screen for cable type, tuner etc. LG tech support
says that most likely the steering diode in the micro which senses when
something is plugged into the front panel jacks is blown. This is
probably from ann ESD surge. Short of replacing the micro the quick fix
is to get into the service menu with an installer type remote, get into
service mode 1937 and select "auto com mode". I am to change the value
of this to 0. The tech says that most older Zenith remotes will do this
or if the remote came with this TV it may work. How can I determine if
the customers remote will work before I go back out there to try this?
Also can anyone please elaborate on getting into service mode and
especially this auto com mode change procedure for me? I don't do a lot
of Zeniths and can't remember last having to get into ones service
menu. Thanks very much for any assistance. Lenny Stein, Barlen

You can use any remote including programmable ones as long as the menu
button works. You can also fix the video jack. This set uses a split
ground internally. When a jack is plugged in it separates the ground
inside. When jack gets used a lot or hasn't been used for some time the
two internal that touch don't hence the set still thinks a jack is
plugged in. You can either replace the jack board or unsolder the video
jack from the board and take the plug apart and bend one side in more
towards the other.

Good luck
