Default which way is best?

Got an amplifier pc board with 75 ohm cable type F fitting to receiver with
50 ohm bnc chassis fitting.

I'm going put the 75 ohm type F on one end of my 10' coax interconnect, and
a 50 ohm bnc on the other end of my 50 ohm coax.

An alternative is to use 75 ohm coax, and mis-match the other way. This
would put a 75 ohm type F fitting on a 75 ohm piece of coax, with a 75 ohm
bnc hooking up to a 50 ohm bnc chassis fitting on the receiver.

Which combination will give me the least loss?

What type of signal? Audio, video, RF? Are you transmitting, or receiving,
both?

A 75 ohm source driving a 50 ohm load wil be down
-7.96 db.
A 50 ohm source driving a 75 ohm load will be down
-4.44 db
Thats in voltage not power.

then again if you are wondering which cable to use, 75 or 50 ohm - Match the
cable to the load , not the source.

OK. General senility is nipping at my heels. Geezeritis is chasing me,
too.

Just took an in-depth look at the situation and find my receiver has 75ohm
BNC input, so no problem. My bad.

Thanks for the ideas and thoughts, though.

One thing about getting old and senile is now I can hide my own Easter
eggs.......
