Default Samsung camcorder DSC 5000 - CCD problem

Hi Experts,

I bought a Samsung camcorder model DSC 5000 about one year ago. It has
2 functions i.e one independent camera len and one another independent
camcorder lens. Formerly this camcorder works very well but now it has
a sympton : the camera still works very well but the camcorder function
is unstable : now I cannot use the camcorder function anymore because
the sreen is totally black but sometimes the LCD screen returns to
normal working condition ! I have already brought this camcorder to
Samsung maintenance center of an authorized Samsung distributor but
after checking they said the CCD of the camcorder is damaged ! But I
donot agree with this conclusion because when I opened this camcorder
and used a handdryer to blow hot air inside the camcorder then the CCD
of the camcorder worked again so I can shot certain periods. But now my
Samsung camcorder function again does not work anymore (the camera
function is still working very good)

Please help and advise me what to do with this Samsung Camcorder DSC
5000.
Many thanks for your kind supports.

Sounds like it needs the electrolytic capacitors replacing, which is
regrettably a very common issue with camcorders. It's an expensive and
painstaking repair, so you'll need to decide if it's worth it.

Even if you pinpoint the individual capacitor and manage to replace it, (try
gently heating individual caps with the tip of a soldering iron) you'll
probably find yourself in a long sequence of it developing annoying faults
and replacing other capacitors every so often- when one starts to go the
rest aren't usually far behind. Still, it's worth a go if you have plenty of
spare time and the necessary skills.

When heating the caps look out for an unpleasant fishy smell or electrolyte
leakage, which is an easy way to spot bad caps. However, they don't always
leak when they're bad.
