Everybody probaly knows memtest, the problem is, i want
to find out in a simple way which chip is causing the fault.
Memtest does not tell afaik.
Any suggestions?, the chips are numbered.

What's the problem?
Do you intend to replace chips on a Simm ?
Are your trying to repair a 8088-type PC ?

There are memory test programs that will give you the address of the
problem memory. Which chip this is will depend on how addressing is set
up in the pc and how the address lines are routed on the memory module.
There's a chance you could make an educated guess if you had all the
BIOS settings and could trace out the address lines on the mobo, but I
may be overlooking something.

Het is een helskarwei om op te zoeken welke chip nu eigenlijk kuren vertoond. Om het geld en de moeite te besparen is het makkelijker om een nieuw geheugenbankje te kopen.

Maar als je het toch alsnog wilt weten, meestal werkt de geheugenbank oplopend. Dus als je het geheugenadres of nog makkelijker de locatie (aantal mb) waar de bank gefaald heeft, dan tel je het aantal geheugenchips. Nu doe je de hoeveelheid geheugen, die deel je door het aantal chips. Dan weet je hoeveel MB een chip is, en dan moet je haast wel kunnen bekijken waat de fout zit.

Bart:

Try each chip one at a time. For further troubleshooting, try each
chip and get a known good one, then test that known good in each slot.
