If there is such a difference in the battery type then why does Makita make
a combo charger. If they can do it than there must be a way to change the electronics of a perfectly good NICAD charger . I just wanted to know how it can be done. There are some smart guy that read these posts . Thanks |

There are plenty of chargers that can do both Ni-Cads and NiMH. To find out the chips for those simply do a Google - but be prepared to spend some time. All IC makers produce PDFs of their spec and include circuit suggestions. Plenty of ready made chargers available too.
