Trouble with RCA HDLP50W151
I bought this set about 1 1/2 years ago. I had to replace the bulb back
in August. About a week ago it started to act up. When we turn it on, the volume comes on but not the picture, we turned it off and waited a few minutes then we turned it back on again, this time it came on audio and video. Every other day or so, it does the same thing and sometimes it takes few tries to get the picture to come on. What could the problem be? My children are fed up with it and want their old TV back. Does anybody know what the problem could be? I appreciate any input. |

Lamp, Ballast, Controller, Etc. Have to check the error codes, when it is in
operation, to determine what may be causing the intermittant problems. "lauricek" wrote in message oups.com... I bought this set about 1 1/2 years ago. I had to replace the bulb back in August. Art's right, it could be the lamp. These lamps don't have filaments
like an incandescent lamp does. Sometimes they just won't strike, and sometimes the ballast is weak. John |

Thanks John, I am grateful for your input. What is the ballast? I don't
know much about this TV other than the fact it comes with a pricey Bulb. I paid $595.00 for it back in August after owning it for only 13 months. |

Trouble with RCA HDLP50W151
It's a 50" TV, I had to call an RCA repairman because I didn't know
what was wrong with the TV. Where can I get it for $250? I would like to have one on hand because it's only a matter of time before it needs to be replaced. |

I paid $595.00 for it back in August after owning it for only 13 months. These lamps don't run at 120 VAC like household lights do, they require HV at specific frequencies to run them, and that's what the ballast does. There is a bulletin issued for these models that warns of erratic lamp operation if the wrong lamp is used. Apparently, there are several vendors for the lamps and ballasts and the complete service number must be used when ordering the lamps in order to obtain the correct one. The service number is the model number plus several numbers\letters as a suffix. The wrong lamp will cause problems. Post the service number on the back of the TV. My parts price list shows the lamps were $598.00 in the June 05 list. John |

So far we have not seen a single one make it to 2000 hours. mine is suppose to be rated for aprox 8500 hours. thats about 3 years of average tv usages. now in my home, the damn thing seems to be on 24/7, having problems with the members of the house in just walking out the door leaving it on with no one there. its been like this for 2 years now and it still seems to be ok. P.S. the first unit we brought home lasted 8 hours and then generated lamp problems. halling a 61 DLP wasn't my cup of tea for a 35 mile run in a pick up truck. we made the store deliver another one. we also noticed that there was a slight film of dust on the back of the tv that would met the unit must of been sitting around for a while before it got boxed! sounds like i got a line pull! well guess what, they got it back ! ) -- Real Programmers Do things like this. http://webpages.charter.net/jamie_5 |

The service number is HDLP50W151YX1. I had the bulb replaced by an
authorized RCA representative. |

For service number HDLP50W151YX1, the correct lamp number would be
260962. The correct ballast would be 261629. Both of these are described as "type A". John |
