My Lexmark z65n burnt its power supply; all the lights began flashing
on the front and I couldn't turn it off just before this happened. Did the printer suddenly draw too much power to cause it? It is ADP-25FP rated to output 30 volts .83 Amps; I took it apart and see that something labelled Z51D is cracked in half..it looks like a resister.except it doesn't have any bands on it. Lots for burnt around it near the transformer coil. There is something label T2A/250V right as the current enters the board that is also blown. It is soldered on top of a circle on the board(does the circle mean something?). At least my ohmmeter doesn't show connectivity across it, It looks sorta like a fuse, except it is soldered into the board. Are these standard parts that I can just buy somewhere and solder back in to make it work? OTOH I see the power supply on eBay for $20, or so, but it's more fun making the old one work! thanks for any advice... how to find parts, etc. Ed |

Is the printer even worth the $20 for a replacement power supply?
In the interest in safety, mainly yours, you really should not try and repair this given the information you provided in your post. Something else has very likely failed if the fuse blew though, you should check the chopper transistor and any diodes, and look for cracked solder joints or bulging capacitors, either of which could have caused the failure. |
