Default Toshiba SK-K615 Skipping

The unit is a Toshiba SK-K615 ser no 24K127407.
It skips on certain disks, but not on others. The lens is clean, and
head assy travels freely. I opened up a brand new disk and it skipped
on it, the skipping isn't due to dirty disks. Ideas?

Thanks again,
Steve

Could be a weak laser, misalignment, worn mechanics, noisy power supply,
dirt inside the laser head etc etc, but this is pure conjecture and
guesswork. It's impossible to say without proper diagnostics.

Thanks for the reply, I'll let the owner know to send it to a repair
shop, which brings me to... does anyone know a repair shop in the
Lewisville, TX area (northern DFW area)? The only repair store I knew
of just recently closed its doors, unfortunantely.
Thanks again,
Steve
