Unhappy Need 1.5" LCD for Finepix A303

Hi,

My A303 has a dead LCD screen. The camera still works, but of course it's much harder w/out the on-screen menus, etc. Other posts seem to point to buying non-working cameras off e-bay for parts. Does anyone know if Fuji sells parts, or any other way to avoid the $96 - $137 repair fees I've found on the Internet? Thanks!

Are you sure the LCD is dead? Sometimes it's just the backlight that's
much easier to deal with. Take a penlight with a small beam and shine
it directly in contact with the LCD. You should be able to barely make
out the screen in adjacent areas if the lcd is working.
There's also the possibility of a manufacturing defect like missing
solder on some pins that took this long to corrode and open up.
I chased my tail over camera data corruption for a week before I
discovered missing solder on joints on the CF socket.

Connector snapped open?
Worth a shot.

Well do like Mike says and check the LCD out. Also when you open the
camera up check out the flex that leads to the LCD (a high power
magnifier helps here) You're looking for corrosion and open traces and
as above bad solder joints.
I've had good luck swapping parts out of cameras I bought on eBay. An
A303 just went for $41.
