I was recently given a 2001 Toshiba projection tv, model TP48D51. The
previous owner told me it needed to be converged. Actually, the blue
horizontal is what needs to be converged. I'm wondering if this is a
relatively simple repair or a repair that needs to be done by
technician. The local electronics repair service charges $79.00 to
come to your house, and they said this particular repair may cost
anywhere from $219.00 to $499.00. Can anyone out there who has had a
similar problem with their projection tv offer any advice on what I
should do? I do have several friends who are audio/video technicians
who might be able to do a repair. Also, are there any schematics for
this tv that I cold download? Thanks for your help.

Probably requires replacing of Both Convergence output devices, checking of
low value resistors in the same area, then doing a registration. If you have
no experience doing these have a professional called in and paid.

I don't know about this tv-set, but the principal is everywhere the same.

The set must have a cross-hatch screen to see it the best and then there
will be a servicescreen to align the set. If you get some friends with
knowledge of old ktv's produced from the beginning of the ktv until about
1978 they will know how to do that.

If the convergence just need to be aligned this will take not so long. If
it's due to a technical probleem I can't say it right so.

Thank you for your reply. I can pull up a cross-hatch screen, but did
not know about a service screen. I will refer to the manual which I
downloaded and see what it says about a service screen. Again, my
