Default LS120 Super Drive fails optical read/write

Howdy,

I have a number of the external USB units from Imation. The USB cable
terminates in a small adapter box that clips on the back of the drive
case and adapts to the internal IDE connection on the rear of the
actual drive.

The drives all seem to be able to read/write to 1.44 Mb and 720 kb
diskettes. But, they all fail when attempting to read/write to the
optical 120 Mb diskettes. They tell me (though XP Windows) the disks
are unformatted (when I knew they are not) and fail to format them
(when I give up and say to go ahead).

Anyone have any fixes for these units? Any alignment or other
'messing' with them fruitful?

T'anks,
Rick
