I'm still trying to find a copy of the movie "Americathon" with John Ritter.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078766/

Looks like the movie for these days. Nobody seems to have it though (for a
reasonable price).

Do you know this to be a reputable dealer? I had seen this before and didn't
believe it to be more than a broker who would *try* to get your goods while
it held onto your money.

As I understand the definition of the "web", it is based on html. Before
hypertext was used on the internet, it wasn't called the web. The lines of
connection that on paper look like a web are based on hyperlinks.

Anyway that was a great movie. The concept was similar to National Treasure
in that the contents of the Library of Alexandria were partially preserved
in a secret place, but unlike NT, NotR was plausible and historical (as well
as tragic).

OK, thanks. Then your ice floe description above must refer to some
additional future bill, which doesn't exist yet?

I'm betting medicare already has a similar requirement. Informed consent
is a big part of the standard of care these days.

What a crock. No one needs 'permission' from the government to ask, or
discuss with, their doctor any damn thing they feel like, including
'alternatives'.

And no such thing is in the bill. Fantasize much?

Where's the downside?

For one, that it's none of the government's damn business

Medicare is none of the government's damn business? Funny fantasy world

and just
what do you think the point is in 'dictating' physicians lecture you
on things both you and he are already perfectly free to discuss at any

Exactly the same as any other regulation anywhere that mandates any
professional discuss anything with anyone. To make sure you don't get
screwed.

The hilarious part is someone bitching about it when they have no downside
to bitch about. One conversation in five years to prevent profiteering

From the master of "real responses".

In the health bill thread, how many times did you claim that others were not
citing the text completely, without ever seeming able to cite the "missing
part" yourself.

You're a callow and ignorant youth. If I'm wrong then you're a callow and
ignorant old man.

Read pages 424 onward... with Medicare you will be required to have
every-five-year "counseling" as to whether treatment should continue,
or whether you should go to hospice and die. I kid you not :-(

Now I know that many lurkers here would be glad to see me go ;-) but
consider yourself, or YOUR parents, or YOUR grandparents.

Do you still like the Obama-nation you voted for ?:-)

I suspect that you have over dramatized this one. But the limitations
of care part is a bit weird.

I'm not "over dramatizing". My engineering mind says, if something
can be interpreted two ways, the BAD way will be the government way.

Actually, you are pretty close to the mark. But it's not all
government, only Republican government.

It is summed up in the article "Why Conservatives Can't Govern"
http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/features/2006/0607.wolfe.html by
Alan Wolfe.
"Conservatives cannot govern well for the same reason that vegetarians
cannot prepare a world-class boeuf bourguignon: If you believe that
what you are called upon to do is wrong, you are not likely to do it
very well."

If conservatives can't govern things that don't need to be governed then so
what?

then so what?

Irrelevant question.
