It has a dot WMV file extension. What part of "you need to become a
bit more computer savvy" do you not understand?

It only bothers the poor people with less than 10Mbps connections.

It's not THAT big, surely (only 4MB)? Even the good old hand-cranked
telephone system should be able to deliver it without undue delay. Mind
you, I wouldn't like to swap my mediocre 1.3Mbs ADSL for my old pathetic
28kbs dial-up.

I have my doubts to that. Your DSL provider is more likely reaming you
based on your gullibility factor!

Now test that claim...

http://test.lvcm.com/

and...

http://www.speedtest.net/

Some people have access to real broadband, instead of DSL. My
Earthlink broadband is through the RoadRunner fiber optic backbone. It
was 5 Mb/s in 2005. Early last year it went to 6 Mb/s, and then to 7
Mb/s around the first of this year, with no increase in price. In fact,
it went down 19 cents a month at the first of the year.

AnimalMagic must have an E-mail address that triggers my killfile... I
didn't see his response.

AnimalMagic certainly is naive... what is "DSL"? I haven't seen DSL
around here for around ten years.

I have Cox Cable Premier, and I've measured it.

But the question remains... did you actually visit either site, and
test your throughput?

Mine is 11Mb/s in and 512kb/s out.

Why should I? There are closer speed test servers, for FLORIDA.

THIS is where I got the DSL claim from.

Cox has 10Mb/s service, but they have NO 2Mb/s uplink service. They
max on residential installations at 512kb/s.

The uplink is ATM as well.

Run the test which was posted. It is a COX hosted site.

Did you ever consider that Jim would have a BUSINESS account, for his
BUSINESS?

Indeed.

Over the last couple of years we lost everybody but Missy and, on
top of our own sense of loss, watching her wonder where everybody
had gone, (even though she didn't care all that much for them when
they were here) one after the other, was very sad.

So, after they were all gone, (except for Missy) and some time went
by, we decided to sparingly repopulate the house with cats and went
down to the pound to save a life.

As soon as we walked into the "cat room", a little Siamese kitty at
the far end of the room saw us and started making such a commotion
jumping onto the cage wall and screaming at the top of his voice
that I knew that kitty wanted us to be his.

So we did the paperwork and after the pound got ahold of our vet
(ostensibly to find out if we were cat-eaters or something like
that) and we paid Monty's bail, we brought him home and introduced
him to Missy. Missy immediately went dominant, being on her own
turf and Monty acquiesced, being a 3 month old kitty.

Things have changed since Missy now weighs about 6 pounds and Monty
weighs about 14, but that's another story.

Then, a few months ago, one of the volunteers at my wife, Gail's,
hospital told her that she had found a cat roaming around an
apartment complex, had taken it in, and would Gail be interested in
providing a home for it.

We now have three cats. :-)

Dam. You were all plonked for starting stupid off topic and argumentitive
threads that have nothing to do with electronics and then I saw the cat
post and to be fair, it did have OT right in the subject. Had to bring you
back. I hope that when it comes to anything electronic that you were worth
it.

This isn't a group about electronic design, it's a group for
electronic designers. And their cats.

Sounds so familiar. Our son Duane, the one who died of colon cancer
last year, used to come home with cats... "it followed me home" ;-)

Sporty looking cats.
Kinda like the a cat version of a greyhound.

A vet once told me that guys tend to have grey cats.
Other colors weren't as popular.

Oh this is perfect. I love kitties and electronics! Here is Missy in her
window. She is very pleased to make your acquaintance as well.

[1] Well, they were when they were little. They're sisters, from the
SPCA, named Comet and Ajax. We just did the flea-drop treatment and my
arm is almost usable again. As the man said, be wary of any critter
that's sharp on five of its six ends.

Oh how cute!!!!!!! Very nice John, very nice.

My in house Linux server is better than yours and don't you forget it. LOL!

A dedicated Linux play server on a broadband 24/7 connecting with a FQDS
just cannot be beat for small time **** like this.

Kitty is definitely a real beauty, I want her/him, I will give you $25
paypal right now for the kitties!

But hey... feel free to filter folks, dip****. You likely filter quite
a few that could help you in a time of need. Sad, really.

I am not going to filter anybody. I just thought the guy was a total wacko
troll but what do I know, I am new around here. Besides, I might end up
filtering someone that could help, just like you said.

Cheers,

Cheers,

Jim? He's probably designed dozens of linear ICs that you've used.

Being a little whacko is an occupational requirement for electronic
design. Ideas don't just leap out of textbooks, you know.
