The CRTs in these have held up quite well. We repair them all the time.
The CK-3526R will have anywhere from 1-3 dozen bad capacitors at this age.
Your horizontal line was likely bad connections in the vertical output
stage, likely made worse by corrosion from leaky caps. The intermittent
power is likely bad caps in the power supply, and/or protection circuits.
Likely all of these and more circuits need to be checked carefully for leaky
caps. We only service these if the client approves an estimate that allows
us to check every cap and replace the many bad ones. After repair the sets
have been very reliable again. Typical repairs in our market are about
$450. I would definitely have it serviced if the pix was looking good
before it failed. Remember that you will have to get a stand or cabinet to
replace this one, which had its own cabinet.

My 14 year old Mitsubishi 35" console has finally given up the ghost.
For awhile it was having a problem with the vertical. When turning the
set on there would only be a single horizontal line running across the
screen. A shart rap to the side of the box would get the vertical back
again. There was also an intermittent problem with the set not turning
on. It would click on and then a few seconds later shut off. Well now
it doesn't turn on at all anymore. Just clicks on and then shuts itself
off. I know nothing about TV repair, though I did repair mainframe
computers years ago and my wife is currently a computer hardware
engineer. Not sure it's worth having a repair person look at given how
cheap you can get large tube TV's now. Anyone have any opinions on
whether it's worth fixing? The console is in great shape. If anyone in
cental MA is interested in a non functional CK-3526R for parts let me
know. You would have to take the whole thing.
