I personally cannot think of an advantage unless you routinely move
between wood and metal projects. Most of the multi speed bandsaws I have
seen a used for metal work. My single speed machine cuts everything from
pine to walnut fine. Even ran a little purpleheart through it.

The multi-speed machines I have seen locally cost a lot more than their
single speed cousins.

Any one else see an advantage for multi-speed with woodwork?
