I'm afraid that there is a lot of hypocrisy about. Organisations like the
CPRE (whose survey this is) represent many people who live in a nice place,
like it and think that no-one else should live there. Those who need a new
house but can't afford one are bottom of their list of concerns. The green
belt should be a moveable boundary.

Most people no idea of land, its: ownership, usage, economics, how they are
at a disadvantage, etc, etc. If they did they would vote the other way. A
poll from people who are victims of propaganda is not worth a light. This
similar to having a poll in Germany in 1938 of who is the best leader in the
world.
If want to know about these things, just ask me.
If I wanted to know about these things, I would ask anybody else.
Your suggestion that the view of people who happen to disagree with
you is not worth counting because you think that they are victims of
some imagined propaganda is the typical justification of a dictator.
On your argument, I could suggest that Michael Howard be in 10 Downing
St. because the people that voted for the present incumbent were in
some way the victims of propaganda.
