One of the most popular new scams on the internet is the
" get paid for your opinion" - It seems that people are so desperate to be
heard that they will actually pay these con men in hopes of being noticed.
If you read this newsgroup, you will find a similar situation in guys
responding to every message just so they can post their own philosophy which
is usually some coffee table quotation attached as part of their signature.
Having said all that, I guess that makes me part of the " I want to be
noticed" herd as well.

I own a website algebra.com. Recently, about 4 months ago, I put in a
system where students can submit algebra questions and problems, and
people can register as free tutors and solve those submitted
problems. Solved problems stay on the website, tutors have "scores",
students send "thank you notes" to students, etc.

Besides that, they can submit lessons.

You'd think that I was out of my mind to put this together. Why would
people "waste" their time answering algebra questions for free, or
posting their lessons on someone else's website?

The reality is that there are many people now are desperate to share
their knowledge and competence, especially if they are tickled with
thank you notes, links to their websites on my popular site, etc.

People tell me that they are addicted to my tutoring system. I am also
somewhat addicted.

So, the drive of people to share their knowledge and to show their
competence is very strong.

hanging out here, eh?

I'm going to have to check that out, see if I remember anything..
