I'm pondering the purchase of a Miller 210 mig welder, vs. a more
expensive 300 amp machine. It'll be my only machine, and I'd like to be
able to weld small, light steel (.065 wall), as well as aluminum(
probably no more than 3/16) and up to 3/8" steel with it....hum,
decisions, decisions, money, money.

Of course the welder salesman tells me a 210 will do it all (with a
spoolgun), but I know the discussion has come up that a 185amp TIG
machine isn't hot enough for aluminum; i.e. it takes a LOT of heat to
do it since aluminum wicks away the heat so fast.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

That should do a good job on 3/16" stock.
