I'll give it a go, its just holding the (very sharp !)
pully and stopping it rotating, do engineers have a "special tool" to do
this ?

A block of wood wedged in the right place can do the job. I usually
carry a 2' piece of 2"x2" and a metal bar in when doing this job.
