Um.....
You said it had a NUT which was spot-welded to the threads of the shaft.
Now you say there is a bolt?
If it is keyed, the keyway will most likely, run the length of the shaft.
UNLESS...it is a woodruff key, whereby only the collar portion of the
stumpjumper that afixes to the shaft will have a keyway.

The other option is that there was a shear-pin in the shaft, under the
stumpjumper.
