I am going to look into the idea of using fan convection rads instead
of normal rads. Does anyone have any experience using these?

I use one in my kitchen and intend to use another in my conservatory. They
are very effective at rapidly heating the air in large spaces. However, they
do make a small amount of noise, so might not be suitable for a living room
where you want to watch films with quiet sections.
