Remember the spindle act as a guide for the "pigtail."

Again hard to say from the picture but it looks to me that the pitch of the
helix on the shaft doesn't match the pitch of the helix on the pigtail. So
the linear and rotational motion of the shaft won't coincide with that of
the pigtail. Something will bind, bend or break if that's the case.
