On a more serious note, iris scanning won't work for a large number of
the population, namely those in certain racial groups. The contrast
between the iris and the rest of the eye is not sharp enough. Will
this give the police carte blanche for a whole new bunch of 'sus'
laws? Look for an even less cohesive society than now (if that's
possible). Still, that won't worry middle Britain! Safe in their ivory
towers.
