Maybe you could still cut the branches over your house? Is that
legal?
I don't know but it should be.


Assuming you're doing it without your neighbor's consent (or possibly
knowledge), legal (here, anyway), but tricky.

First, all the work has to be done from your property or from a
public street or sidewalk.

Then, you have to be sure there's no actual damage done to the tree.
If you kill it or introduce disease, you've bought additional
trouble.

But last, and probably more important, your neighbor will still be
your neighbor the next day.
