In the current issue of Popular Woodworking, Judy Ditmer has a nice column
for beginners on bowl turning. In looking at the picture of the chuck she
was using, it appears that the jaws are quite a bit deeper than on my Oneway
chuck. Does anyone know what kind of chuck that is. It looks like it would
give a better grip on a tenon or the reverse. It looks like the jaws may be
close to an inch in depth.

I don't have the magazine, but it sounds like the "shark jaws" for the
Vicmarc. (see http://www.poolewood.co.uk/acatalog/Vicmarc_Chucks.html
for a picture) I've been quite happy with them, you can put a bigger
tenon on a blank and have serious holding power.
