One of the home shows, probably Bob Vila, had a good show about building
a stone wall. Probably about two years ago. Fascinating. Might be
able to get the video. I did a search on ' "historic preservation"
repair stone walls ' and found interesting stuff. No books for sale,

Your local historical society may have someone with knowledge. There
are always collectors of old tools who may also know the methods. Heck,
might even be able to show you how to do it. Other websites, mainly
gov't., discuss methods and mortar formulas. Good luck. Let us know.
