I am obtaining very results with using heat resistant contact glue from
Canadian Tires. When peeling off the old velcro carefully it does not
damage the foam padding. Also when pulling on the velcro the foam padding
does not come off its base. Only the velcro comes off. The foam pad does
not need to be cleaned before applying new contact glue.

I've used CA glue. In fact I could not get mine to stick with 3M
because I did a bad job of cutting off the old velcro.
The problem I have not solved is how to remove the self adhesive part.
I tried several things like goo off I think it is called and it did not
do anything.
