Hi All,

Of course my new laptop won't fit in the old Toshiba carry case and
because it's not an armoured jobby I was thinking of making a
'tougher' carry case for it.

Why the need for something other than a regular laptop case?

If you have a situation where you have to check it in or give it the
baggage handlers at the aircraft because it's a small prop job it is
important to have something rather sturdier than a Targus.

I've
been using a Targus backpack case for the last couple of years - it
has a padded inner section that provides protection for the laptop,
and enough space for cables, PSUs, etc. (where "etc" can include a
basic change of clothes, toiletries/medicines, and enough paperback
books to keep me going on a transatlantic flight!) -- cost about £50
in PC World.

Anything else seems to be overkill, inasmuch as you end up w/ a case
that weighs considerably more than its contents!

It's the batteries that do that.

Sometimes the notebook can be heavy anyway. For example I have a Dell
5150 (a 1600x1200 screen) and that is pretty heavy anyway.
