Not all of them. The alkaline ones are - we have a total
field magnetometer for field work. It has to be powered
with plain carbon-zinc cells. Those are much much less
magnetic than the alkaline cells, which have steel jackets.
Hm, never tried that. If I ever go back to GE (heh) maybe I'll
mention it...
