Does anyone know of any good quarries for dressed or semi-dressed
walling stone in the Macclesfield/Cheshire/Western Peak areas?

I am looking for sandstone in light pink through to buff colours.

I have tried a couple in Kerridge (Earl & Bridge) but the lead time for
the stone is excessive for my small requirement.

TIA,

I visited a quarry, on the A6 just out of buxton, they let me fill the
car with stones, for a donation to the christmas party fund. This was
a couple of years ago.

Dressed stone is a different matter entirley, as somebody has to work
on it, adding a huge additional cost.

By the football ground in Macc (go down the road next to the ground,
follow the road, its behind bargin booze) is a salvage merchant, I was
there last week, and they have piles of stone, it maybe worth a trip
to see if they have what you want.
