Does anyone make any ribbon with between 2 to 20 wires that will work
with the .1" spacing on the solderless breadboards? That would be
really handy for hooking the BCD output of one chip to the input of
another. Also it would be nice to have some kind of ribbon cable with a
female connection on one side and make connection on the other that
could be used to hook to a 2 x 20 pin header of some pre-built board to
a breadboard. The header I am looking at already has a .1" spacing, but
the 2 columns are also .1" apart so unless there is a breadboard layout
that I don't know about, plunging it into one will hook each row of 2
pins together, which is very unlikely to be what I need to do.

Check Digikey for DIP form-factor IDC connectors. They're available
pre-wired or as a bare connector, 14 to 40 pins in "DIP spacing" so they
fit well on breadboards.

Try this link, or just search on "IDC DIP connector"
