Any water left in the pipe will make a good soldered joint very
difficult if not impossible to make, you might consider a push fit
fitting for your final connection.

OTOH, despite stories and myths about this, I've never had the slightest
problem soldering joints in previously wet pipework. It's important to have
a good torch, though.
