Yes, I've read the FAQ thanks, and very helpful it is in some things.
(The gas bit especially). AND I've googled, and come up with HUNDREDS
of books and company websites, but no tutorials so far.

I can't find out things such as what pipe sizes to use, where,
examples of layouts for piping, radiator models and which work best
where, fit rads on an internal wall or under the window, which rad to
leave without a TRV, best place to put a thermostat to control the
boiler... etc. I'm sure there must be one. Could one of you
knowledgable folks point me to it please?
