The best software is provided by your computer manufacturer
for free on their web site. In fact, this is a benchmark for
minimally acceptable manufacturers. If he does not provide
those comprehensive diagnostics, then suspect the worst.

If you don't have a responsible computer manufacturer, then
you must download and construct you own diagnostics by
downloading diagnostics from component manufacturers and other
third party sources.
