BES have various intumesant (sp?) products like this. Not sure if they
currently have foam but have a look.




I'd be a bit wary of a chimney with collapsing brickwork like this (actually
I'd be VERY wary). Best to do a decent job and either run a liner or have it
"concrete" lined with an inflatable "sausage" with lightweight refractory
material poured around it. One regular contributor used to run a company
called Isokern IIRC and a look at their site may help.
It'll cost a lot more than a can of foam but at least should guarantee your
house isn't going to burn down or CO escape into the dwelling.

This is something you should do properly.
I'd say a 1000 quid of lining, repointing, and so on, or possibly an 'up
floors and fix'
