For me, the best bang for the buck was the Panasonic PV-GS400. The
image stabilizer works very well under all conditions and it has quite
good performance in low light. The color rendition is excellent in low
light or bright. And it has manual controls for tough shooting
conditions.
Digital 8mm is definitely not the way to go. It's old tech.
