The idea is that if you start adding spurs to spurs etc... and

each spur to the max then the length of cable from the first is at
risk of overheating\loading.
It's a blanket rule that has always been adhered to, even though one
spur with 13A on it equates to 13 spurs with 1A each on them it's not
the done thing. In the future someone could come along without

knowing
this and start loading up all the spurs and overload the first leg of
the spurs.

Gotcha, thanks for your help. I checked the hot tub its currently
plugged into a weather proof outside single socket with RCD protection
and its rated at 13AMP so the FCU option should be fine.
