I would not put resistors in series with the speakers. This will cause a
mismatch between the output stage and speakers. It is not good practice

Put a resistor in series and another in parallel with each speaker to get it
right, or find a datasheet for the audio amp IC and change a couple
resistors to reduce the gain.
