Default remote satellite controllers

Bit OT but here's the place to ask!. We have three satellite receivers
plus a freeview box cluttering up the place. We want to put these in one
room and mix the outputs together at RF on "spare" channels and feed
these into the aerial distribution system so that any TV can receive the
output of each box, and whatever channel its on.

Now does anyone know of a remote control system that say you can have a
"receiver" module in each room with a TV in it so that this "receives"
the output of any of the sat box controllers, and then another unit that
transmits this as it were to the boxes, presumably infra red then by
radio link then back to infra red again. Presumably we can have as many
remote control points as we like all being received at the end where the
sat boxes are.

TIA

Yes.

I think there are two parts to this - the RF bit and the control.

I think that you will be familiar with the RF bit, Tony.

Broadly, what I did was to take the analogue UHF from two antennas on
the roof and equalise them through channelised filters to bring the
levels equal. A group of modulators made by Ikusi were put onto
unused channels, following the harmonic spacing rules. Where I am,
using Crystal Palace and Hannington, the spare channels are in the
50-60 range. The modulator outputs are also run through channelised
filters to reduce wideband noise. The outputs of this setup and the
antennas feed into a splitter used as a combiner and thence into the
launch amp - also Ikusi. I then have a tree structured distribution
of the RF through the house.

For the control, I use a generic infra red distribution system which
runs over CAT5 wiring (among others) manufactured by Xantech.
There are receive sensors in each room, and there are versions to fit
cabinets as well,
They then have emitters which can be stuck to the front of IR using
equipment quite discretely. There is an amplifier which has multiple
inputs and outputs and distributes any to any.

The system is then quite simple. Just take the appropriate remote(s)
and point as required at the room sensor and the signal will reach all
receivers. It works well and is not equipment dependent.
