Not really a function implemented in scanning software. The
most important capability would be to scan in 16 bits per
color per pixel (*sometimes* called HDR scanning).

Method One:
Try making two scans, and combining them in PhotoShop,
Picture Window Pro, Corel PhotoPaint ... and possibly
several other image editing programs. There are several
tutorials 'on the Web' that you can easily find with your
friendly local search engine.
