I don't know what upc stands for, but if anyone has any other ideas on
how to fix this thing, please let me know. Everything works
otherwise, and I like the machine.

Hi,
I have a problem with a GE cordless 900 MHz answering machine model
26990-D. When I use the phone and am dialing the number "6", more
often than not, the phone goes into mute mode and the 6 doesn't dial.
I have already cleaned the keypad internally, but it doesn't help.
Any ideas?
uPC stands for microprocessor. Is the unit under warranty? If so,
exchange it, otherwise trash. A new one only costs $20 or so, it's
not worth the expense to even try to get parts. Otherwise, take it
apart and resolder all visible connections to see what happens. Have
you tried the time-honored method of giving it a good snack with your
fist to see what happens?
