I sincerely doubt it, if it did autodetect, that would be a feature and would
be touted as such.

If the set isn't designed for it, it may be a bit more than tweaking, it may be
the replacement of ceramic filter, and possibly toggling certain pins of the
jungle IC.

If your new sound carrier is going to be closer to the video carrier it's also
possible there may be some mods in the chroma and video circuits. Also if there
is any difference in the line rate you might need a mod for the stereo decoder.

This does nothing for your archived videos, and if you have and use a camcorder
that's a new monkeywrench into the works. You might want to leave it how it is
and pickup even a small set in Switzerland to watch local braodcasts. If you
got satellite and a billing address in the UK you could just re-aim it

I would think a multi-rate/multi-system TV would be more avaivable in
Switzerland, but I've gleaned this from things I've heard, I have no actual
knowledge. I just think it's likely.

If you want, research the actual differences between the systems. If you tell
me that I can give you an informed technical opinion. I don't work on anything
but NTSC usually.

Anyway, sorry I don't have better answers at this time, but hopefully I gave
you an idea or two.

After I get out of the NG I might do a bit of research and find something
solid.
