May want to remove the power/defelction pcb and go over it throughly with a
soldering iron. These sets are renown for poor solder connections. while in
there it may be wise to run an esr meter over the caps in thepower and
deflection circuits.

hello,

i have a 10 y.o. Pioneer 40" rear-projection tv that is suffering from
the following symptoms: images become vertically compressed within a
few minutes of powering up, then settle back to normal screen size.
This would go on for some time until finally the images fail to go
back to normal size and the tv shuts down, and would not power up.
Then miraculously, a week or two later, it would power up again and
everything would be fine again...

is it time for me to get a new tv or is it reparable?

thanks,
brandon
