I'm just trying to liquidate the "sins of the fathers" debt with which
we've saddled future generations. If they want to avoid incurring
new debt, that's their choice.

I'm not really concerned about borrowing, as long as the people
who do the borrowing pay it off. The problem we have is that we've
incurred so much debt that it won't be paid off in our lifetimes
without some sort of drastic action such as liquidating some
assets.
