Default Jet Mini Motor Overheating Problem Repaired

Thank all of you that responded to my question about the Jet motor
problem. Those of you that were suspecting the capacitor were rig

Well I have the Jet mini with the smoking capacitor problem up and
turning again.

I finished the project I was working on when it died. The motor and
lathe worked fine and seemed to have suffered no other ill effects. I
did pay more attention to keeping the shavings clear and to the
temperature of the motor housing. And as Peter T. indicated in his
post to my ordinal thread, the motor does run hotter than my other
electric motors.

I had to leave the lathe and travel across country for a few days but
next week I'll be back with the lathe and will give it a good workout
to make sure it will hold up.

For you other Jet mini owners that may be paying attention -

I ordered the capacitor directly from Jet. It costed $10.00 but they
also charged me a $9.00 handling fee and of course taxes and the
shipping. They only ship UPS which is expensive shipping making the
total cost $30.01 for ground shipping but at least I was able to order
the part and repair the lathe quickly and with out too much trouble.

Again thanks to all of you that responed and helped me with this
problem.
