I work for a appliance service company, in your price range anything
in the Whirlpool family (Whirlpool, Roper and certain Sears/Kenmore
models), easy to work on and by far the cheapest parts.

However, not that cheap that after 17 years when the pump went in our
Kenmore washer that is made sense to repair, rather than replace. We
replaced it with another Kenmore washing machine for $350 Canadian-- a price
I haven't seen that low for years..up here.
